Terms of Service
1. Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using the Screen Translate Android application ("App", "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.
2. License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on Android devices you own or control, solely for personal, non-commercial use. You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except as permitted by applicable law
- Modify, distribute, sell, lease, or sublicense the App
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices
- Use the App to violate any law or third-party rights
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the App to:
- Translate content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights of others
- Process content that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable
- Bypass, disable, or interfere with security features (including subscription verification)
- Automate use through bots or scripts in a way that overwhelms our systems
- Resell or redistribute translation results commercially without authorization
4. Subscriptions and Payments
- The free version of the App is supported by advertisements. The premium "VIP" features require a subscription or one-time purchase.
- Subscriptions are billed through Google Play (or Huawei AppGallery for the Huawei build) and renew automatically until canceled.
- Pricing varies by region and is displayed in your local currency in the app store.
- Free trials, when offered, will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless canceled before the trial ends.
- To manage or cancel your subscription, use the subscription settings in Google Play or Huawei AppGallery. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds are governed by Google Play's or Huawei AppGallery's refund policy. We do not process refunds directly.
5. User Content
You retain ownership of any text, images, or speech ("User Content") you submit to the App for translation. By using the App, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to process User Content solely to provide the translation service. We do not store User Content on our servers; processing happens on your device or via the third-party translation engine you select.
6. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in the App and its source code, design, features, and content are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not transfer any ownership rights to you. "Screen Translate" and the App icon are our trademarks.
7. Third-Party Services
The App relies on third-party services (translation engines, advertising networks, OCR providers) listed in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for the availability, content, accuracy, or policies of these third parties. Your use of them is governed by their respective terms.
8. Translation Accuracy Disclaimer
Translations are provided by automated machine translation engines and may contain errors. Do not rely on the App for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions. Always verify important translations with a qualified human translator.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ACCURACY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL CUMULATIVE LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (IF ANY) IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
11. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or engage in fraud, abuse, or unlawful behavior. Sections 5–10 survive termination.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be announced in the App. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China (excluding conflict-of-laws rules). Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation; if not resolved, exclusive jurisdiction shall be the competent courts located at the developer's registered place of business.
