1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Screen Translate (the "App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use the Screen Translate Android application. By installing and using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information: when you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, display name, and Google profile picture.
- Subscription tokens: when you subscribe via Google Play or Huawei AppGallery, we receive a purchase token issued by the store, used solely to verify your subscription status with the store API.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Device information: model, OS version, language, country, screen resolution, and a randomly generated device identifier (Android ID).
- Usage data: which features you use, translation counts, error reports, app version, channel (Google Play / Huawei / etc.).
- Server logs: when your app calls our backend (api.51mgly.com), our server records the request IP, User-Agent, and timestamp for security and debugging.
2.3 Screen content (OCR & translation)
When you take a screenshot for translation:
- OCR text recognition runs locally on your device by default using Google ML Kit. Your screenshot is not uploaded in this mode.
- Cloud OCR (optional): if you actively choose Baidu Cloud OCR or Zhipu GLM-4V comic OCR, your screenshot is sent to that provider for processing. This is opt-in per use.
- Translation requests: only the recognized text (not the screenshot) is sent to your selected translation engine (Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, Baidu, DeepSeek, Youdao, etc.).
- We do not store your screenshots or translations on our servers.
3. How We Use Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its translation features
- Process subscriptions and verify payments
- Authenticate user accounts and prevent fraud
- Diagnose crashes and performance issues
- Display advertisements (free version only)
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Third-Party Services and SDKs
The App integrates the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

5. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- The third-party services listed above, strictly for the stated purposes
- Google Play / Huawei AppGallery for subscription verification
- Law enforcement when legally required
6. International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers (Google, Microsoft, AppLovin, Vungle, Unity) are located in the United States or Europe. Some (Baidu, Zhipu, Pangle) are located in mainland China. By using the App you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in these jurisdictions.
7. Data Retention
- Local data (your translation history, settings): stored on your device only; deleted when you uninstall the App.
- Server data (account, subscription, error logs): retained while your account is active. Deleted within 30 days after you delete your account.
- Server access logs: retained for 90 days for security purposes, then automatically deleted.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Delete your account and associated data: open the App → Profile → Account Settings → Delete Account
- Export your translation history from within the App
- Withdraw consent: revoke permissions in Android Settings, unsubscribe via Google Play / Huawei, or uninstall the App
- Object to processing for direct marketing

9. Children's Privacy
Screen Translate is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data: HTTPS for all network traffic, AES-256-GCM encryption for sensitive local storage (subscription tokens), and access controls on our servers. No system is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be announced in the App.
